Duch Cart Fix — Full Description Duch Cart Fix is a client-side Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.21+ designed to dramatically streamline the process of placing rails and minecarts, particularly useful for TNT cannon building, rail networks, and any scenario where you need to rapidly deploy rail + minecart combos through areas occupied by entities (players, mobs, or existing minecarts).
Core Feature: Entity Hitbox Bypass In vanilla Minecraft, when you try to place blocks like rails, cobwebs, or minecarts near entities (players, animals, other minecarts), the game's crosshair targets the entity instead of the block behind it. This makes it extremely frustrating to build rail lines through areas with entity traffic. Duch Cart Fix solves this by intercepting the crosshair targeting system — when you're holding a rail, cobweb, or minecart item, the mod performs a block-only raycast that completely ignores entity hitboxes. This means you can place rails and minecarts directly through players, mobs, and other entities as if they weren't there, similar to how water and lava buckets work in vanilla.
The following items benefit from entity hitbox bypass:
Rails: Regular Rail, Powered Rail, Detector Rail, Activator Rail Minecarts: Minecart, Chest Minecart, Furnace Minecart, TNT Minecart, Hopper Minecart, Command Block Minecart Cobwebs Automatic Minecart Switching After Rail Placement When enabled (configurable), the mod watches for successful rail placement. After you place a rail, it automatically finds a minecart in your hotbar and switches your selected slot to it. This eliminates the need to manually scroll or press number keys to switch between rails and minecarts — you just keep clicking.
This feature is smart enough to remember what item you were holding before the interaction, so even if the rail was the last one in your stack (and the slot becomes empty), the mod still correctly detects that you placed a rail and triggers the switch.
Two Placement Modes: Hold & Click The mod offers two distinct placement modes, configurable through the in-game settings screen:
Hold Mode (default): After placing a rail, the mod switches your hotbar to a minecart. You continue holding the use button to place the minecart on the rail yourself. This gives you full control over timing and placement.
Click Mode: A single click does everything automatically. When you click to place a rail, the mod detects the successful placement, switches to a minecart in your hotbar, and then automatically places the minecart on the rail for you in the same action — no second click needed. This is ideal for rapid rail+cart deployment where speed matters more than precision.
Offhand Support The mod fully supports minecarts in the offhand slot. If you're holding rails in your main hand and a minecart in your offhand, the mod will detect this and automatically place the minecart from your offhand onto the rail after you place it — without switching your hotbar at all. This means your main hand keeps the rail stack selected, allowing you to continuously place rail+cart combos without any hotbar switching interruption. This works in both Hold and Click modes, with the offhand always taking priority over hotbar switching.
Fast Block Placement Vanilla Minecraft has a 4-tick cooldown between block placements when holding the use button. Duch Cart Fix reduces this to zero for "placeable" items — blocks, rails, and minecarts — allowing you to place one block per tick (20 per second instead of 5). This makes building long rail lines, walls, or floors significantly faster.
The fast placement system has a comprehensive exclusion list to prevent unintended rapid use of items that shouldn't be spammed: food, bows, crossbows, shields, potions, buckets, throwables (eggs, snowballs, ender pearls), fire charges, fishing rods, shears, leads, flint & steel, spawn eggs, boats, armor stands, books, and other non-building items all retain their normal use cooldown.
Configuration All features can be individually toggled through an in-game configuration screen (accessible via ModMenu):
Auto Switch to Minecart — ON/OFF — Controls whether the mod automatically switches to a minecart after placing a rail Fast Block Placement — ON/OFF — Controls whether the placement cooldown is removed for building items Placement Mode — Hold/Click — Controls whether minecart placement is manual (hold) or automatic (click) Settings are saved to a JSON config file and persist across game sessions.
Dependency The mod requires DuchEssentials library mod as a dependency, which provides shared utilities and API helpers used across the Duch mod ecosystem.
